Of course, along the way I will continue to be pursuing representation by a literary agent and a nationally selling standard publisher. Just because I have chosen to self-publish so far doesn't mean I count myself out of the race for publication the standard way. My book has received rave reviews from those who have read it and I believe in the book personally. I believe it has an audience out there that would buy it and love it nationally and perhaps even internationally. I'm excited about my writing and have found others who are equally excited by my writing. I can't wait till my book signing on the 29th of this month at the Owen County Public Library!
Music of the moment is from my Mel's Music playlist on iTunes and is "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. This song is perfect for part of Train Wrecks and is really moving when you really listen to it. There's a very strong message against dating violence in this song. I personally love The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus as a band, and their music is terrific in my opinion. I also recommend their songs "Cat and Mouse" and "Your Guardian Angel" (a song I chose for the end of Awakening of a Guardian.
LOL. The song that just came on is "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" by Big and Rich which is like the only country song I actually like. I may be from the country and still currently live in the country, but I'm not a country girl at heart apparently because I'm not big on the music. However, there is something about this song that I like and enjoy listening to. Kind of makes me want to go out and buy my husband a cowboy hat, pair of cowboy boots, and a flannel shirt to wear with his jeans. I think he'd make a pretty hot cowboy! :-)
The excerpt of the day is set at the onset of the football game. The girls are going to ride to the game with Nate and Evander and hang out waiting for the game to start.
Just a reminder, we are getting down to the nitty gritty of the end of the book. There will only be a couple more excerpts from chapter 12 before you will be left hanging without any idea how it ends! Please go to amazon.com and buy your copy of Awakening of a Guardian now!! There are links at the top right hand side of this page to go buy the book too.

I ran upstairs, changed into jeans, a school spirit tee, and sneakers. I rummaged through my closet past my summer clothes and found the football booster hoodie I had bought during the last football season when it turned much cooler than I had expected one night at a game. I wanted to be prepared for traditional football season weather. After brushing my hair and brushing my teeth, I looked in the mirror and decided I was as ready as I could be for the night.
Evander was waiting outside when I came out. “Have you been waiting long?”
“No, actually, you’re running on time. I just stepped outside a few seconds ago.”
“Good, I think I’m getting better at not being so late all the time.”
“I think so too. Perhaps I’m being a good influence on you.” He smiled at me and laughed heartily.
“It’s really not that funny that I’ve been on time more lately,” I scowled at him until he stopped laughing.
“Sorry.” He gave me the puppy-dog eye look, knowing I’d have to forgive him then.
We were almost running late by this time and had to jump in his car and hurry to the field house before Coach James, the head football coach, had a fit. Evander was a star running back and would be sorely missed if he didn’t make it to the game.
I wasn’t that sure about football positions and what they meant. I’d never paid that close attention, but I liked to support our team and go to the games. I knew that Evander typically ran towards the end zone and tried to score a touchdown in what he explained to me were “running plays”. Sometimes he got to run and then received a pass to try to score. That was all I really needed to know.
We arrived at the football field just after Nate and Amie. The guys headed to the field house to get changed into their uniforms and hear the pep talk the coaches would give. Amie and I climbed into the stands and found seats near the center along the fifty-yard line where we could have the best vantage point of the entire field.
